Welcome to the North Carolina Geographic Information Coordinating Council

As part of the Council’s work, standards are routinely crafted, discussed, and evaluated by the NC GIS community of federal, state, and local government members. Each standard is promoted to the wider community.

  Adopted by the NC Geographic Information Coordinating Council, August 12, 2009 and the Secretary of State, October 1, 2009.

  Final draft endorsed by the NC Geographic Information Coordinating Council, February 8, 2012. Awaiting formal adoption by the Secretary of State.

Archive of Superseded Standards

• Digital Orthophoto Standard and Example Metadata Record
  This standard was developed by the NC Land Records Management Program and was adopted by the Geographic Information Coordinating Council on August 18, 2004. It was amended on November 10, 2004 to allow for the utilization of digital cameras in orthophotography production.
